In Marseille, caf\u00e9s aren\u2019t just for grabbing a quick espresso. They\u2019re lively places where people come to chill, chat, or even get some work done. Next stop, a bakery at La Plaine: Gourmandises by Nico<\/strong> (Place Jean Jaur\u00e8s) which offers focaccia, praline brioche or chicken and avocado sandwiches on their olive oil-infused bread. Sip your coffee in the morning sun and enjoy the atmosphere of La Plaine! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just next door, there\u2019s Mon Caf\u00e9<\/strong>, a friendly hangout that\u2019s perfect for a coffee break or a casual meet-up. In fact, all the caf\u00e9s on La Plaine are full of character and a mix of people, with the terraces like open-air stages where Marseille life unfolds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In R\u00e9form\u00e9s, you can head to l\u2019Eclectique <\/strong>(30 cours Joseph Thierry) and take your time over a coffee in the sun or an ap\u00e9ro<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a no-frills, local-style caf\u00e9, try O\u2019Thierry<\/strong> (also on Cours Joseph Thierry). It\u2019s a simple, welcoming spot where regulars can be seen chatting away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a great cafe-restaurant a bit off the beaten track, make for Golda <\/strong>(All\u00e9e L\u00e9on Gambetta). It\u2019s a little gem of a place, with delicious dishes, well-crafted drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, just a stone\u2019s throw from the city centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If hanging out around Cours Julien is more your thing, you\u2019ll be spoilt for choice: there are many colourful, lively, creative caf\u00e9s with a bit of a hipster vibe. Coming here is as much about having a coffee as soaking up inspiration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
