a useful city guide for traveling youth

Aim

The aim of this project is to ensure the smooth integration of young people coming to Marseille and Lisbon, and thereby facilitate the work of the organizations responsible for sending, receiving and/or hosting them.

Survival guide

This ‘survival guide’ has been created by different volunteers from Bokra Sawa and Spin, two associations running cultural projects for young people. The two teams met in Marseille at the beginning of the project, then continued their work and discussions online before meeting for a second time eight months later, in Lisbon, to build on the work already done.

To put this guide together, an online questionnaire was sent to young people in Marseille and Lisbon to gather their opinions and recommendations. Then, to fine-tune the guide, we took directly to the streets to ask local residents to give us their top tips and tell us about hidden gems in their cities!
This guide is aimed at European youth volunteers and other young people wishing to visit or move to Marseille or Lisbon, whether for a short or long period, as well as residents looking to know their cities better.
Our intention is to provide a useful, easy-to-use tool, which responds to common challenges faced by newcomers by compiling advice on how to adapt to these big cities.
