Parks in Marseille
Marseille isn’t a very leafy city but it does have a few green spaces. Whether for a walk, to exercise, or just relax in the sun, there are several very nice parks in Marseille to choose from.
- Borély Park (8th district)
Located within the grounds of an old 18th century villa, this large park even has a museum! Many people come here to do exercise like yoga or jogging, to take their children to the play areas, or just to wander around. You can visit its botanical garden and watch the coypus by the lake. The park is just a stone’s throw from the Huveaune beach, so you can easily head for a swim in the sea afterwards!
- Longchamp Park (4th district)
This centrally-located park is very easy to get to, by metro, tram or on foot. It houses two municipal museums: The Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Fine Arts. You can also visit the former zoo and relax on the grass.
- 26th Centenary Park (10th district)
Created on the site of the former Prado railway station, this park is a good choice for a wander or a jog. With different garden styles, it is pleasant and quite big!
- Calanques National Park (8th district)
The National Calanques Park is an ideal place for hiking, walking, and swimming in the sea. It’s very big and offers many walking trails of different lengths. The park can be reached with public transport, by bike, or by car.
- Valmer Park (7th district)
Nestled above the Corniche Kennedy, this park offers wonderful views of the sea!
- Pastré Park (8th district)
Between Pointe-Rouge and Marseilleveyre, Pastré Park is very big and offers many walking trails and sheltered spots. It’s a good spot for wandering in the summer in the cool of the shade.
